B.S. in Child Development with Early Development and Learning Concentration Major Requirements

This option is designed to prepare students with knowledge and skills in curriculum development, observation, and assessment methods in early childhood education settings. Students who intend to work as teachers would benefit from this concentration. Students will select one of the following tracks:

• Child Development Teacher Permit Track
• PK-3 Track*
• Early Childhood Special Education Track**

* To earn a PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential, students must apply for the PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential program after completing a Bachelor鈥檚 degree. If students are accepted at the CSUDH PK-3 ECE Specialist Instruction Credential Program, this track will allow them to complete the credential in 2 semesters rather than 3 semesters by completing a semester鈥檚 worth of credential classes as part of the Bachelor鈥檚 degree.聽

** To earn an Early Childhood Special Education Credential, students must apply for the Early Childhood Special Education Credential program after completing a Bachelor鈥檚 degree. If they are accepted at the CSUDH Special Education Program, this track will allow them to be intern-eligible (Students can get a job as Classroom Teacher of Record and get paid while completing their credential).
