Project Management Course Pre-requisites & Order
Courses must be completed in order—from PMX 900 to PMX 904; the numerical sequence of the courses build upon each other.

Classes are held live-online on Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings. Each day of the week runs as its own cohort, and we strongly recommend choosing one day and staying with that cohort as you move through the program so you can complete the series of courses with the same group of peers. To stay with one cohort, please refer to the “Days/Hours” column of the schedule when selecting your classes.

With this schedule, the program is typically completed in approximately two terms (about six months).

YOU MUST ATTEND ALL CLASS SESSIONS TO EARN CREDIT/DIGITAL BADGE FOR A COURSE, AND YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED COURSES TO EARN A CERTIFICATE.

Project Manager

PMX 900 | Introduction & Overview of Project Management

0.6 CEUs |
Students gain an understanding of project management as a scientific and professional business function. This is the first course in a five-course certification and will be the prerequisite for all other classes. The Course introduces detailed descriptions of projects, project life cycles, and project integration.


PMX 901 | Project Resource and Procurement Management

1.5 CEUs | Prerequisite: PMX 900
Students gain an understanding of the disciplines involved in managing project team members and managing contracts and purchase orders. Major human resource related topics include project team organizations, responsibilities, team building and leadership. Major procurement related topics include contract specification, solicitation, award and administration; contract types and billing/payment options.


PMX 902 | Project Quality and Communications Management

1.5 CEUs | Prerequisites: PMX 900, PMX 901
Students gain an understanding of the disciplines involved in managing project quality and communications. Major topics related to quality include establishing a quality assurance program, executing the appropriate quality control measures, and assuring that the customer’s needs are met. Major topics related to communications include the principles of communication, how to improve the effectiveness of communications and what specific communications tools are used on projects.


PMX 903 | Project Risk and Scope Management

1.5 CEUs | Prerequisites: PMX 900, PMX 901, PMX 902
Students gain an understanding of the discipline involved in managing project risk and scope. Major risk related topics include the basic nature of project risk, as well as risk assessment, analysis and mitigation. Major scope related topics include defining the purpose and scope of the project, planning the execution of the project, establishing and using a work breakdown structure, controlling the scope and verifying that the delivered project matches the specified scope.


PMX 904 | Project Schedule and Cost Management

1.5 CEUs | Prerequisites: PMX 900, PMX 901, PMX 902, PMX 903
Students gain an understanding of the disciplines involved in managing the project schedule and expenditures. Major time related topics include using the work breakdown structure to establish the project schedule, optimizing the project execution plan, establishing the project schedule baseline, reporting actual costs and communicating project costs and forecasts to the stakeholders. Major cost related topics include using the project schedule as the basis for the project cost estimate, estimating costs, establishing the project cost baseline, reporting actual costs and communicating project costs and forecast to the stakeholders. This course addresses the benefits of a tight integration of the schedule and the cost tracking systems.

Live Online Course Delivery

All classes for this program are LIVE ONLINE. This instructor-led program utilizes our campus' Canvas Learning Management System (LMS)available directly at , as well as through our student portal, . Live virtual class sessions are conducted at the day/time indicated in the program schedule.
Attendance and participation via Zoom at all class sessions is required.

For students using corporate/government/restricted access devices: Please check with your organization's IT services to ensure that you'll be able to access CSUDH's Canvas, Zoom, and Toromail resources prior to your first class session.

Be sure to get your password and instructions to access MyCSUDH and other CSUDH online resources when you register, and download/print materials for the first week prior to course start.

CCPE Registration & Additional Information

The deadline to enroll for courses for most certificate programs is FOUR (4) BUSINESS DAYS or earlier before the class begins (or as indicated on the schedule); course schedules are updated daily.

If a course in which you are interested is no longer displaying in the course schedule, please be aware that its registration deadline may have already passed, or the course may have already reached capacity. Review the schedule for alternate dates, or sign up for Program Updates to be notified of upcoming classes.

  • If you are a new to CSUDH and have never taken a course through CSUDH Continuing Education, simply select the course you want to take, click on the Cart icon to register, input your personal information, and pay for your class(es).

Current CCPE Students

  • If you are an existing CSUDH Continuing Education student who has been active in the past 6 months,you will use your regular CSUDH login information.
  • If you are an existing CSUDH Continuing Education student who has been active within the past 2 years, but who has not been active in the past 6 months, you will need to reset your password by visiting.

All Other CCPE Students

  • If you are a past CSUDH Continuing Education student who has NOT been active within the past 2 years,please register for your first (returning) course as though you are new student.
  • If you are an existing CSUDH Continuing Education student who has forgotten your username, student ID number, and/or Toromail address, please call the CCPE Registration Office at 310-243-3741 (Option 1) during Office Hours to retrieve this information.

⚠ Current Admitted CSUDH (Non-Continuing Ed) Students

  • If you are a currently-enrolled undergraduate or graduate CSUDH student who wishes to take a CSUDH Continuing Education course for the first time, please call our CCPE Registration Office at 310-243-3741 (Option 1) during Office Hours to get registered.
  • Please note that CCPE courses cannot be registered through MyCSUDH.

If the course you want to register for has a prerequisite, after selecting "Checkout & Pay", you must Log In using your CSUDH campus credentials so that the system can verify that you have completed the required prerequisite course.
