Mandatory Title IX Training for Students

All CSUDH students are required to complete annual Title IX training which covers topics such as dating and domestic violence, sexual violence, sexual harassment prevention, bystander intervention, reporting options, and available resources.

Student Title IX Training- Impressions is a required online module that presents real-life scenarios, bystander strategies, reporting guidance, and information about support services at CSUDH. It is designed to be interactive and educational, helping to create a safer and more informed campus environment.

What you need to know:
  • Student Title IX Training in CSU Learn is a yearly requirement for all CSUDH students.
  • This includes undergraduate and graduate students, whether full-time, part-time, or online-only.
  • The training is an online module that takes approximately 40 minutes to complete.

Content Disclosure: This training contains sensitive material related to sexual and interpersonal violence.听 While content warnings and support resources are provided throughout, we understand this content may be distressing or triggering for some students.

Q: What is the required online Title IX Training?

A: For both new and returning students, the Student Title IX Training in an online module in CSU Learn. It presents real-life scenarios, bystander intervention strategies, reporting guidance, and information about support services at CSUDH. The training is interactive and educational, designed to support a safer, more informed campus community.

Q: Do I have to complete this training, even if I took it last year?

A: Yes. All students- new and returning- are required to complete the training聽every academic year.

Q: Why are students required to complete this training?

A: Title IX training is required by state and federal law, as well as CSU policy (). Specifically, the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA) mandates that colleges and universities provide annual sexual violence prevention and awareness programming. The training educates students about prohibited conduct, reporting procedures, how the university responds to incidents, and available support for survivors.

Q: How do I access the training?

A: Students will receive an email notification about the training assignment sent to their ToroMail. You can also access the CSU Learn Website directly using this link.

Q: How can I verify whether I've completed the training?

A: Students who complete the training will receive a confirmation email sent to their ToroMail, including a downloadable certificate of completion. You may also check your Training Transcript in the CSU Learn portal. If you have completed the training but did not receive a confirmation, please email ovw@csudh.edu.

Q: Will I be tested on the content?

A: Yes. At the end of each video or module, you'll answer a few brief questions. These are designed to help reinforce your understanding of the material.

Q: Can you tell me more about the alternate training option offered by the Center for Advocacy, Prevention, & Empowerment (CAPE)?

A: Alternate trainings are facilitated by CAPE staff and meet the same content requirements without including scenario-based videos. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions during the session. While you're not required to have your camera on, active participation is expected via Zoom chat and polling activities.听You are not required to disclose your reason for choosing the alternate format.听Once you complete the session, CAPE will submit your student ID to the Office of Equity and Inclusion to ensure your training requirement is marked as complete. The session typically takes 45-60 minutes- about the same as the online training.

Q: Do the training videos have closed captioning (CC)?

A: Yes. The videos offer CLosed Captioning, Audio Description (narration of visual elements), and High-Definition video options.
