We prepare students to address mental, emotional, and social well-being and center the need for equity-focused, culturally responsive services.

Our Mission

Toros Heal Los Angeles (THLA) is a network of five behavioral health degree programs that address the severe behavioral health workforce shortage for children and youth by expanding and diversifying the pipeline of mental and behavioral health professionals, including a new paraprofessional entry route. It strengthens job pathways in local communities and builds a community-rooted workforce trained in culturally responsive care, enabling graduates to pursue successful careers with less debt, higher retention, and strong readiness to serve South LA and across the Los Angeles region.

Our Initiatives

Fall 2026 marks the first year of the Toros Heal L.A. (THLA) initiatives at CSU Dominguez Hills. Over the next five years, THLA will support a variety of efforts that support our THLA Scholars and promote sustainable, innovative, and educational/practice opportunities across our 5 participating degree programs,听including:

Providing financial support to CSU Dominguez Hills behavioral health pathway students

Our goal is to provide support to approximately 525 behavioral health graduate students and 175 undergraduate Human Services students enrolled in the Wellness Coach II pathway over the next 5 years.

Supporting the faculty of our five participating degree programs

Toros Heal L.A. currently supports the ongoing development of our five participating degree programs through a number of sustainable initiatives that ensure ALL students enrolled in our behavioral health degree programs meet current industry expectations.

Creating a community of well-prepared, youth-serving behavioral health professionals

This year, our goal is to design and foster a sense of belonging for our Toros Heal L.A. Scholars that inspire interdisciplinary collaboration, promote professional growth, and strengthen partnership with youth-serving organizations in our surrounding communities.

The Toros Heal L.A. Scholars Network LinkedIn group brings together Toros Heal L.A. Scholars from across our interdisciplinary behavioral health degree programs to connect, share opportunities, and support one another as they grow in their careers in behavioral health. To maintain a dedicated community for Toros Heal L.A. Scholars, eligible members must have received a Toros Heal L.A. Scholarship. All membership requests are reviewed and approved by the Toros Heal L.A. Scholars Network Administrators.

The Toros Heal L.A. (THLA) Scholarship

The Toros Heal Los Angeles (THLA) Scholarship reduces financial barriers for CSUDH students pursuing careers in behavioral health and supports the growing need for behavioral health professionals serving children, youth, and families in communities across Los Angeles County.

The THLA Scholarship is offered to both incoming and current CSUDH students enrolled in one of our five behavioral health degree programs.听
