Overview
The Human Services major at CSUDH is a single subject major (no minor required) that prepares students who earn the B.A. degree for employment in a variety of professional service careers.
This major is interdisciplinary and combines courses from Human Services, Child Development, Health Sciences, Leisure Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology and other areas. It is similar to a degree in social work, and it is a great major for people who want meaningful jobs helping others and serving their communities.
At CSU Dominguez Hills, a B.A, Human Services degree provides core coursework that meets the Admissions prerequisites for:听

This interdisciplinary program includes:
A set of core courses that provide a broad background of the knowledge and skills needed to help improve the quality of life of those in need. Electives that provide specialized, in-depth training in an area of concentration are chosen and designed by the student. Supervised work in the field of human services through a series of fieldwork courses. The major appeals to caring, socially concerned, people-oriented individuals who want to learn how to serve the community effectively. Human services help those in need through:

Practicum Education
A B.A., Human Services internship is an excellent opportunity for students to learn hands-on human services skills and to try working with different populations, to help them听determine听their preferred population of choice. Although many students prefer to intern at different agencies for each internship, students can select one agency to complete two or three of the internships, if preferred.

Behavioral Health Career Pathways
Certified Wellness Coach-II (CWC II) Program
The Wellness Coach role is a new, certified position to increase our state鈥檚 overall capacity to support the growing behavioral health needs of our youth. It is designed to help build a larger and more diverse and representative behavioral health workforce in California that has the training and supervision needed to engage directly with young people where they live, study and work.听听Wellness Coaches will offer non-clinical services that support youth behavioral health and well-being, such as wellness promotion and education, screening, care coordination, individual and group support, and crisis referral. The model will supplement and support existing behavioral health roles, fill gaps in the current behavioral health workforce, and create a larger and more diverse workforce with whom youth can connect.听
